Certification story

Evans Vanodine, an independent family business, manufacturing industrial and livestock hygiene chemicals, has achieved Planet Mark certification.

Evans Vanodine produces a vast range of janitorial, cleaning and agricultural chemicals. As well as being committed to developing products that provide optimum performance with minimum effect on the environment, Evans Vanodine has committed to extend this ethos to all areas of its business, encompassing the manufacturing processes, waste management, recycling and energy-saving. The company has developed its own unique system for monitoring the impact its products have on the environment, taking into account the formulation, manufacture, use and disposal of products.

Steve Malkin
Founder and CEO
Planet Mark
“Congratulations to Evans Vanodine on a great set of carbon reduction results this year. The team takes a holistic view of its carbon footprint and aims to reduce its footprint across all of its operations. This is the kind of approach we need to sustainability, one that takes responsibility throughout the value chain. Evans Vanodine is doing fantastic work in reducing its carbon footprint, and I hope this continues into the future.”
Vikki Morris
Environmental Manager
Evans Vanodine International
“At Evans Vanodine, environment and sustainability is a priority in our decision making processes. We are proud to have recently achieved our year 5 certification with Planet Mark, through our dedication to decreasing our carbon footprint whilst continuing to produce optimum products. With the assistance of Planet Mark and the accessibility to their tools, this has been possible.”

Vikki added “As a manufacturer of cleaning and hygiene products, the pandemic has been a challenge. We had to maximise the production of critical products such as hand sanitiser for the covid response. Despite our increased manufacturing capacity, we managed to improve some of our processes to achieve a 11% reduction in our emissions which we are very proud of.”

Companies working in the chemical and cleaning sectors must be aware of the impact they have on the environment. Companies must move beyond compliance with relevant legislation on chemical products, to address the huge questions around waste and plastics disposal, safe use and supply chain management. In a decade of climate action, it is imperative that companies in the chemical industry take a holistic approach to its environmental impact, for both their own sustainability agenda, as well as for client acquisition and retention.

Future targets

Reduce carbon emissions by at least 2.5% each year

To recertify next year Evans Vanodine must reduce emissions by 2.5%.

Aim to reduce carbon emissions by 5% each year

A 5% year-on-year reduction is the target reduction recommended by Planet Mark.
